Boomer Bugle - 2022

Trailer Trash Party, Big Chief, Burnet

Our February rally was held at Big Chief in Burnet. We started off with some freezing rain during the night. This led to about a 1/4” of ice on the steps of our trailers. Candy and Pam both slipped the next morning. Pam sprained her ankle and Candy had multiple fractures that required surgery, pins, and a cast. Later, we had our Trailer Trash Costume Party and a 50/50 pot. Karl and Terry were crowned King and Queen of the trailer park. Robert and Pam won the 50/50 pot.

Spring Fling, KOA Holiday, Rusk

Our Spring Fling was held at the Rusk KOA March 31- April 4th. Festivities included a Funny Hat Contest, won by Pam Butler, bean bag baseball and a movie night. We were going to watch “The Long, Long, Trailer”. We waited a long, long, time while the KOA staff tried to get their equipment working. We eventually gave up and played cards.

Sweetheart Rally, Coushatte RV Ranch, Bellville

Our Sweetheart Rally was held April 27th thru May 2nd at Coushatte Recreation Ranch in Bellville. We visited Newman's Castle, which has been a multi-year project of the owner of a local bakery. For entertainment we wanted to try something new. First we thought of musical chairs, but we quickly discarded that idea once we thought of all the injuries we would inflict. Then we thought of the card game, spoons, but thought that would take too long. So we combined them into musical spoons. The one left without a spoon is out. The women were vicious and quickly eliminated the men. Candy was the eventual winner.

Memorial Day, Old River Road, Kerrville

Memorial Day at Old River Road found us without use of the hall at the last minute because they planned a fish fry for the park and didn't tell us. We made it happen out doors and participated in their free fish fry. It all worked out as the park had a live band playing on Memorial Day evening in the outdoor pavillion accross from where we were all parked.

Fourth Of July, Salmon LakeCampground, Grapeland

We returned to Salmon Lake again this year to celebrate the 4th of July and to set off our annual fireworks. We were joined this year with another rally group that brought fireworks to the show as well. We had our dog days of summer pet food drive and donated several hundred pounds of pet food to the shelter in Palestine. We also held our annual Texas Holdem Tournament, won by Don Allen.

Hot August Nights Flamingle, Miller Creek, Johnson City

One of our very favorite parks, Miller Creek was sold to new owners just before our rally. Unfortunately, the new management treated us very poorly and we won't be going back there any time soon. While it did put a damper on our activities, we did enjoy playing games, great boomer food, and visiting with one another.

Labor Day, Coushatte RV Ranch, Bellville

Jodi, Darrell, Scott and Sherry hosted the labor Day rally at Coushatte. Highlight of the rally was our visit to a close by Alpaca ranch owned by previous boomer members. We also played many games and had an indoor cornhole team competition. Great fun.

Halloween, Skyine Ranch, Bandera

The ghouls were really out at the Boomers Halloween Rally in Bandera. Linda Kingsley, assisted by Carolyn Bry did the fantastic decorations. The costume party was a hoot with prizes going to the best costumes. We also worked in the annual Funraisin Chinese auction with proceeds going to the club coffers.

Christmas In The Country, Salmon Lake, Grapeland

Hosted by Hughes and Busby's, our Christmas In The Country rally was a great time for all that attended. In addition to many games of choice, we had a beanbag baseball game and played Senios Volleyball for the 1st time. The group traveled to Crockett to eat at a good TexMex restaurant one evening. Salmon Lake Campground was the perfect setting for our Christmas in the country celebration.

Until Next Year!!!!
Thanks for a wonderful Texas Boomers 2022!
